At the age of 19 Chef Julaine Ingersoll cooked her first Thanksgiving dinner for 20 people. She had been around food from an early age, since both her parents cooked, Mom was a very good southern cook and her Dad liked to experiment with different foods and dishes. They always had a large garden and her grandparents raised their own meat. Because both parents worked outside the home, Chef Julaine and her sister Patricia made some interesting lunches for themselves and dinners for their parents.
She worked at Head Start for ten years as a Nutritional Assistant. There she wrote breakfast, lunch and snack menus, dealt with the caterers, wrote nutrition lesson plans, helped with nutrition training for parents and staff, and developed alternate menus for with children with special dietary need such as diabetes, PKU, allergies, and other special nutritional needs.
After leaving Head Start she owned and operated Cooking Your Way, her own personal chef business. She was a member of Personal Chef Network Inc. where she earned her Personal Chef Certification. As a personal chef she not only cooked meals ahead and did special dinner parties but worked with her clients on portion control, weight loss, diabetes, allergies, and in some cases taught them how to cook in a healthier way.
She continues to develop her skills by reading, researching, and attending food events such as the National Restaurant Association Food Show where they offer continuing education from many well known chefs around the world, new foods and preparations, new equipment and tools, and original menu ideas. Once she briefly met and cooked with Food Network star Giada De Laurentiis.
Chef Julaine loves preparing healthy, fresh foods for your children and the special Dinners to Go for your families. Her point of view is,” If you can’t afford to travel you can always travel through food.”
